Radiation protection

The Swedish Government1 has issued the following:

1 § This Ordinance is issued under the provisions of chapter 15 §§ 6 and 7 in the Environmental Code. The purpose of this Ordinance is that producers shall be responsible for taking care of products containing radioactive substances and orphan sources that become radioactive waste and handle them in a satisfactory manner with regard to radiation protection

These guidelines are applicable to final geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel and nuclear waste. The guidelines cover measures undertaken with a view to develop, site, construct, operate and close a repository, which can affect the protective capability of the repository and environmental consequences after closure.
