Placing orders and terms of payment

If you need a calibration, call or send us an email and we will agree on a calibration time. After that we will send you a confirmation e-mail with the technical details of the calibration.

Please note that we do not perform any calibrations during January, July and August.

Contact the National Metrology Laboratory for ionising radiation either by email: rmp@ssm.se or by phone: 08-799 40 00 if you have questions about calibrations, metrology, dosimetry or research activities related to:

  • External beam therapy
  • Brachytherapy
  • X-ray diagnostics
  • Radiation protection in photon beam fields
  • Radiation protection in X-ray fields
  • Radiation protection in beta radiation fields
  • Micro-/nanodosimetry

Shipping of calibrated instruments

If you will be sending your instrument by post or courier, use the following address:

Swedish Radiation Safety Authority
Riksmätplatsen (National Metrology Laboratory)
Solna strandväg 122
SE-171 54 Solna, Sweden

How long time does a calibration take?

Your instrument will be sent back to you within about one week after the measurements. The finalisation of the analysis includes detailed quality checks and approvals, and you will normally receive the calibration certificate within about two weeks after the measurements. We always strive to work as quick as possible, but without sacrificing quality.

Note that orders for calibration of brachytherapy well-ionisation chambers should be placed well in advance since this work is performed on your premises.

Calibration fees

Detailed information about our fees for different kind of calibrations is available on our Swedish website. If you place an order for several devices for the same calibration type, the fee is lower for the second and subsequent devices. For personal dosemeters, a number of dosemeters (typically about three) allowed by the method, are exposed at the same time. Additional sets of dosemeters are charged as additional items.

An administrational fee of SEK 940 per order is included regardless of the number of items. The administrative fee includes shipping within the Nordic region with PostNord. The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority is not liable for any damage or losses caused during shipment. If you prefer a different transportation company, you should include a waybill with the instrument. Measurements outside our formal methods are charged SEK 1 380 per hour, and travel costs SEK 690 per hour. Reimbursement for accommodation is charged separately.
