Partnerships within Euratom
The Swedish Radiation Safety Authority participates in three research partnerships within the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) to support Swedish research groups in participating in international projects and receiving EU funding.
Euratom funds research in the field of radiation safety as part of its activities. Participation in Euratom allows the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority to contribute to shaping the direction of research, strengthen national expertise, and benefit from research results. The partnerships usually require national co-financing and consist of consortia of research organisations appointed at the national level by each member state of the EU.
Sweden participates in three Euratom partnerships:
- CONNECT-NM: Research on nuclear materials
- EURAD 2: Research on radioactive waste management
- PIANOFORTE: Research on radiation protection
